Located about 7 kilometers to the west of Lagos is the charming beach town of Praia da Luz. Positioned on a stunning bay featuring the prominent black rock formation known as Rocha Negra, the town is renowned for its picturesque coastline and sandy beach. This beach town offers a variety of cafes and restaurants, along with excellent winter surfing opportunities, making it one of my favorite towns in the Algarve region. This place has a lot to offer for visitors looking for things to do and see during their stay. Let me guide you through it! 👇

Exploring beautiful beaches
The beaches around Praia da Luz are absolutely stunning! So I can only recommend to hop in your car and start exploring them! Sea caves, natural bridges and white sandy coves with turquoise waters, you can find it all! The main beach is beautiful (picture) to hang out and watch surfers at sunset whilst enjoying a vino verde at one of the cafe's at the boulevard.

Coasteering: my fave adventure
I can't even explain how fun this is!! Time to experience the best adventure ever with coasteering on the Atlantic Ocean! Coasteering is an exciting combination of climbing, swimming, hiking, and cliff jumping along the stunning Algarve coast. Swim through magical ocean caves, climb cliffs, and take scary jumps off the Algarve cliffs into the ocean.

Surfing
Praia da Luz is a pretty great destination for surfers (and other water sports) of all levels because your on the Atlantic ocean with the corner of Sagres nearby. With a variety of surf schools around (especially in Sagres and Lagos), it's easy to book a lesson or rent a board. The nearby surf spots are ideal for learning, and when conditions are too small or big, surf schools can take you to the west coast or sheltered bays.

Road tripping
The Algarve is a fantastic region for road trips, with wide and scenic roads that lead to magical beaches and trough stunning landscapes. Highways are wide and generally pretty empty trough beautiful landscapes. Once you leave the high way up into the mountainous landscape yofind endless windy roads withj beautiful views. All together: perfect for a road trip and exploring beaches and beautiful nature.

Hike from Lagos to Praia da Luz
The stunning Western Algarve coastline makes it the ideal place to go on cliff hikes. One of my favorite hikes starts (can be walked either way) at Ponta da Piedade (Lagos) and ends at Rocha Negra. The hike is about 11 kilometers of stunning walking trails and takes around 3 hours (one way). I recommend taking a taxi to Ponta da Piedade as taxis are quite cheap around here, and Lagos is just 7 kilometers away. Once you get to Ponta da Piedade, make sure to check out this stunning viewing point!

Supping and kayaking
Spending time in summer and loving water sports? Definitely try supping or kayaking!
Huge rock formations, natural bridges, sea caves, and clear blue waters make this the ideal good weather activity. Just google any surf/sup school around you, and they can take you on an amazing trip!

Cave and dolphin tours
Take a tour on a cave or dolphin tour, a popular tourist activity in the Algarve. Many companies in Lagos offer boat tours along the beautiful coastline, allowing you to explore hidden caves and enjoy the scenic wonders and marine wild life.

Visit Lagos
Just about 7 kilometers east from Praia da Luz, you'll find the small city of Lagos. It's famous for the stunning viewing point Ponta de Piedade and its steep wooden steps to the sandy cove of Praia do Camilo.
